The Opéra National de Paris is streaming its production of Donizetti’s “Don Pasquale” between May 11-17.
The production, which is available on the company’s website or through CultureBox, stars soprano Nadine Sierra, Lawrence Brownlee, Florian Sempey, Michele Pertusi, and Frédéric Guieu. The work is conducted by Evelino Pidò and directed by Damiano Michieletto.
“Michieletto has a touch for comedy; he knows how to handle hilarious situations without falling into a clown routine. In ‘Don Pasquale,’ he can make a funny situation truthful, making you laugh and reflect at the same time,” said OperaWire’s review of Michieletto’s staging.
This is the latest in a number of opera streams from the Opéra National de Paris. The company has already presented such works as “Carmen” and “Les Contes d’Hoffmann.” Next up will be “Boris Godunov,” which will start streaming on May 25 through May 31, 2020.
