Opéra National de Paris Cancels’ ‘Il Trovatore’ & Makes Out February Changes

The Opéra National de Paris has announced several changes coming to its upcoming schedule.

The company stated that its concert version of “Il Trovatore” would no longer be taking place at the Opéra de Bastille and that chamber concerts between Feb. 11-25 at the Studio and Amphithéâtre Bastille will also be canceled. Additionally, the ballet program scheduled for February at the Palais Garnier and the Academy concert set for Feb. 17 have also been done away with in the current slate.

Meanwhile, the first performances of “Aida” which are scheduled between Feb. 12 and 27 will not be performed in front of a live audience. Instead, the company will showcase the performance on Feb. 18 and 21 via arte.tv.

The company announced a continued commitment to engaging audiences online over the next several weeks as the country comes to grips with the continued spread of COVID-19 and its new variants.
