The Opéra National de Paris will continue its “Avant-Premières Jeunes” during the 2020-21 season.

The program allows anyone under the age of 28 to purchase discounted tickets (10 euros) for nine distinct performances throughout the season. The goal of the program is to ensure increased access to the theater for younger audiences.

The program started back in 2015 and since then, close to 107,000 qualifying audience members have been able to attend performances. Per the company’s official press release, 47 percent of audience members who attend via the “Avant-Premières Jeunes” program are doing so for the first time. Moreover, 12 percent attend alongside classmates at the lycée or university level.

There will be three opera performances included in this year’s “Avant-Premières Jeunes” program including the Feb. 9, 2021 performance of “Aida,” the March 21, 2021 performance of “Faust,” and the May 22, 2021 performance of “The Queen of Spades.” Other performances in this program include five ballet performances.
