Opera MODO Presents Size & Queer Inclusive Production of “The Little Mermaid”

Opera MODO and Part of Your World Princess Co. LLC are set to give an inclusive performance of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid.”

The production focuses on plus size inclusivity, trans representation, and queer joy. Creatives on the project represent the plus size, transgender, gender non-conforming, nonbinary, LGBTIA+, and drag communities. The cast is composed of Sofia Kirkman (she/her) and Steph Bedore (they/them) as Ariel, Dory O’Dell (he/they) and Cole VanAmburg (he/him), and Jackie Roach (they/them), Rashi Sarwar (they/them), and Danielle Wright (they/xe) in the role of Uruala.

“We are thrilled to partner with Part of Your World Princess Co. LLC to present The Little Mermaid in a way that celebrates size inclusivity and queer representation,” said Danielle Wright, Artistic Director and Founder of Opera MODO, in a press release. They continue,”This production is a testament to our commitment to showcasing bodies AND voices that look like our community, on stage.”

Performances take place July 9-21, at The Matrix Theater in Detroit, MI.
