Opera Memphis Names New Music Director

Opera Memphis has announced that Jonathan King will be the new Music Director.

King will join the company in August. He recently completed two seasons as Associate Conductor with The Washington Chorus and has served as adjunct faculty at The Peabody Institute, where he coached with Peabody Opera Theatre.

King is a doctoral candidate at The University of Maryland and holds two Master of Music degrees in piano chamber music and choral conducting from the University of Michigan.

He has collaborated with many great artists including J’Nai Bridges, Renée Fleming, Nicole Cabell, Michael Spyres, John Holiday, and Will Liverman.

Opera Memphis has yet to announce its 2023-24 season and more details will be unveiled in later months.
