Opera Memphis Announces Major Change for ‘Così fan tutte’ Productions

By David Salazar

Opera Memphis has announced a major change for its May 21 performance of “Così fan tutte.”

The company revealed that the performance will no longer feature the participation of the Memphis Symphony Orchestra or conductor Moody.

Instead, the performance will showcase Jennifer Q. McGuire at the piano accompanying the singers.

In an official press statement, the company noted that the decision was made due to surging numbers of COVID-19 cases in the area.

“As in all our productions in the last two seasons, we administered regular Covid-19 tests for staff and artists during the rehearsal period, and unfortunately, some key members of the artistic team are unable to continue,” the company said in its press statement.

The opera will star Darren Drone, Keely Futterer, Courtney Jameson, Sergio Mandujano, Rocky Sellers, and Monica Yunus.
