Opera Holland Park Announces 2025 Season

Opera Holland Park has announced its 2025 season.

The season will open with a new production of TheFlying Dutchman,” the company’s first staging of a work by Richard Wagner. Directed by Julia Burbach and conducted by Peter Selwyn, the production will star Paul Carey Jones, and Eleanor Dennis as the Dutchman and Senta with Neal Cooper as Erik.

Premiere Date: May 27, 2025

Commissioned by Opera Holland Park and premiered in 2023, Matt Scott Rogers will conduct “itch” by Jonathan Dove and Alasdair Middleton. It will be performed by the 2025 cohort of Opera Holland Park Young Artists in their annual showcase at the Schools and Discovery Matinees.

Premiere Date: June 3, 2025

Lehar’s “The Merry Widow” will star Paula Sides and Alex Otterburn as Hanna and Danilo. John Savournin directs the new staging with Stuart Stratford conducting.

Premiere Date: June 19, 2025

“Trial by Jury/A Matter of Misconduct!” will be directed by John Savournin and Laura Attridge. Toby Hession conducts.

Premiere Date: June 24, 2025

Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor” will be performed in a new production by Cecilia Stinton. Michael Papadopoulos conducts the production starring Jennifer France in the title role, Morgan Pearse, José de Eça, Blaise Malaba, and Ellen Pearson.

Premiere Date: July 18, 2025

Verdi’s “La Traviata” will be conducted by Matthew Kofi Waldren and will star Alison Langer, Matteo Desole, and Stephen Gadd.

Premiere Date: July 19, 2025

Opera in Song which was established in 2021 and co-curated by Julien Van Mellaerts and Dylan Perez will return. The recital series will bring established and emerging talent together to explore the contrasts and connections between art song and opera.
