Opera di Roma to Stage New ‘Rigoletto’ Production in Summer With Vittorio Grigolo, Rosa Feola

The Opera di Roma has announced it will stage opera during the summer season.

In an interview with Corriere della Serra, sovrintendente Carlo Fuortes announced that the company would be performing a new production of “Rigoletto” at the Villa Borghese with a maximum of 1,000 spectators.

In the interview he said that the production would follow government regulations and also added that no audience members will be allowed to stand and everyone will have numbered seating.

The new production will be directed by Damiano Michieletto and star Italian singers Luca Salsi, Rosa Feola, and Vittorio Grigolo. Danielle Gatti will conduct the production

Fuortes also announced that the summer season will include a concert performance of “Il Barbiere di Siviglia” and a ballet with music by Pink Floyd.

While there will be a summer season, Fuortes noted that the company will not be able to continue in the fall as closed spaces have a limit of 200 people. The company is expected to showcase a work in progress of a new production of “La Clemenza di Tito.”

The Teatro dell’Opera di Roma generally opens its summer season at the Terme di Caracalla, which holds an audience of 20,000 people, 10,000 less than the Arena di Verona.
