Ópera de Tenerife is presenting its first staged Wagner work with “Der fliegende Holländer.”

The work will be performed on Nov. 16, 19, and 22 at la Sala Sinfónica, with Guillermo García Calvo conducting, and the production by Marcelo Lombardero.

The cast will include Anton Keremidtchiev, Airam Hernández, Ángeles Blancas, Vazgen Gazaryan, Guadalupe Barrientos, and Joan Laínez.

Artistic Director José Carlos Acha said, “This is the composer’s fourth opera, and we are already beginning to see his leitmotifs and what will become the hallmarks of his works.

Conductor Calvo added, “It’s a pleasure to work here and develop my relationship with the Symphony Orchestra, since Wagner’s operas sometimes happen more in the pit than on the stage, and that’s why every rehearsal is a gift…As a Madrid native living in Vienna, I love being in Tenerife, so I have no complaints.”
