Opéra de Nice Cancels Opening of 2020-21 Season

L’Opéra de Nice Côte d’Azur has canceled the opening of its 2020-21 season.

Per the opera house’s official statement, health authorities have ordered the cancellation of events due to the soaring number of COVID-19 cases.

Per the same statement, performances of “Réunion de famille” scheduled for Sept. 12 & 13, 2020 have been postponed for a later date. The concert performances of “Canon de Midi” slated for Sept. 11 through 13, 2020 have been canceled.

L’Opéra de Nice Côte d’Azur has informed audiences that it will regularly provide updates about the health situation and possible changes for its upcoming performances.

Over the past week, France has seen an increase in COVID-19 cases reporting over 10,000 cases a day. The country currently has 373,911 confirmed cases and 30,910 confirmed deaths.
