Opéra de Dijon Announces Conductor Change

The Opéra de Dijon has announced a conductor change for its production of Haydn’s “L’Isola disabitata.”

The company informed audience members that Leonardo García Alarcón has been forced to cancel after testing positive for COVID-19 and will quarantine. As a result, Fayçal Karoui will replace Alarcón in rehearsals and for the performances on Nov. 27 and 28, 2021.

Karoui is a well-known conductor who has conducted at the Opéra National de Paris, the Orchestra National du Capitole de Toulouse, the Orchestra National de Lille, the Orchestra National de Monte-Carlo, and Festival Aix-en-Provence.

“L’Isola Disabitata” is set to star  Ilanah Lobel-Torres, Tobias Westman, Andrea Cueva Molnar, and Yiorgo Ioannou. Luigi De Angelis is set to direct the production.
