Opera Company of Middlebury to Present ‘The Maid of Orleans’

The Opera Company of Middlebury, Vermont’s only professional opera company, will open its 2020 season with Tchaikovsky’s “The Maid of Orleans.”

The opera will get three performances on June 11, 13, and 15, 2020 at the Wright Memorial Theatre on the campus of Middlebury College.

The production will be fully staged by Douglas Anderson and will be conducted by  Principal Guest Conductor Michael Sakir. Mezzo-soprano Gillian Lynn Cotter will sing the rarely performed title role.

The company will also showcase events during the run of performances including a Meet the singers session and a student performance.

Previously the Opera Company of Middlebury has performed “Tosca,” “L’Elisir d’Amore,” “Cendrillon,” “The Magic Flute” ‘A Streecar Named Desire,” and “Il Trittico.”
