The Opéra Comique has announced a cast change for its production of “Macbeth Underworld.”

The company said that Jean-Sébastien Bou, who was initially planned in the role of Macbeth, will not be able to take part in the production for health reasons.

As a result, Jarrett Ott will take over the role. Ott has previously performed with the Opéra Comique in “Breaking the Waves” by Missy Mazzoli in May 2023 where he received rave reviews. He has also performed with the Santa Fe Opera, Staatsoper Stuttgart, and Opéra de Lille.  

Ott is set to join a cast that includes Katarina Bradić, Maria Carla Pino Cury, Mélanie Boisvert, and Melissa Zgouridi. Franck Ollu conducts the production by Thomas Jolly. 

“Macbeth Underworld” will be performed between Nov. 6 and 12, 2023.
