
Ildar Abdrazakov Performs at BRICS Gala Alongside Other Opera Singers
By Francisco SalazarOn Oct. 23, an official reception was held on behalf of the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, in honor of the XVI BRICS Summit.
Headlining the event were opera singers Ildar Abdrazakov and Olga Peretyatko.
The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation reported about the reception. The artists were accompanied by the State Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Republic of Tatarstan conducted by Alexander Sladkovsky. Other soloists included cellist Alexander Ramm, pianist Arseny Tarasevich-Nikolaev, and pianist Ivan Bessonov. Soloists of the Bolshoi Theater of Russia Denis Zakharov and Eleonora Sevenard, the ballet troupe of the Tatar State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater also performed at the official event.
The BRICS summit was held between Oct. 22 and 24 in Kazan and saw 20 heads of state including China’s Xi Jinping, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
BRICS stands for Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa and the grouping, often referred to as a counterweight to the Western-led world, has expanded to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.
Abdrazakov endorsed Putin for President and has since become a Member of Russia’s Presidential Council.
