Opera Colorado to Host ‘Sip & Sing’

By Afton Markay

Opera Colorado’s “Sip & Sing” returns for two nights this season.

The opera company joins forces with Nocturne Jazz & Supper Club for an evening of live music and fine dining. Artists in Residence perform a mix of opera and art song, cabaret, and Golden Age Broadway, featuring works by Stephen Sondheim, Jake Heggie, and Tom Cipull. Each selection is thoughtfully paired with dishes and drinks designed to heighten the mood.

“This collaboration reflects what’s possible when two Denver arts communities come together around creativity and connection,” says Barbara Lynne Jamison, the Ellie Caulkins General Director and CEO, in a press release. “We’re grateful to Nocturne for their longstanding partnership and shared vision in creating a space where audiences can gather, discover something new, and experience live music up close with our Artists in Residence in an intimate and welcoming way.”

This season’s class of Artists in Residence include Bridget Ravenscraft, Jordan McCready, Daniel Miller, Mason O’Brien, Oliver Poveda Zavala, Kevin Spooner, and John Morefield. The Artists in Residence are a vital part of the Company’s community programming. The Artists perform in schools and community venues, and for special events, along with mainstage productions.
