Opera Colorado Announces Pay What You Wish Program

By Francisco Salazar

Opera Colorado has announced that it will launch a Pay What You Wish ticket program.

The company noted that the new program will ensure that cost is never a barrier to experiencing world-class opera and it follows the success of Pay What You Wish for select performances last season.

With the new initiative, the company will now offer this opportunity for every mainstage performance and will offer anyone the chance to purchase a ticket at a price that fits their budget.

Tickets start at a minimum of $1, with a suggested price of $25. These seats will be assigned at Opera Colorado’s discretion and are limited to four tickets per household. The City and County of Denver 10 percent seat tax will be added at checkout.

In a statement, Barbara Lynne Jamison, the Ellie Caulkins General Director & CEO of Opera Colorado said, “Opera belongs to everyone. By offering Pay What You Wish at every performance, we’re ensuring that anyone—no matter someone’s financial situation—can experience the beauty, drama, and connection that live opera brings to our community.”

The Pay What You Wish program is designed on the honor system to provide access to those who need financial flexibility to access live arts performances.
