Jordi Savall, Hespèrion XXI & La Capella Reial de Catalunya Close Schubert Club’s International Artist Series

The Schubert Club has announced that Jordi Savall will close the 2025-26 International Artist Series at the Ordway in Saint Paul, Minnesota, joined by his ensembles Hespèrion XXI and La Capella Reial de Catalunya.

The program, titled “Songs, Battles, and Dances from the Old and the New World” and set for April 16, 2026 at Ordway Concert Hall, features music by Des Pré, Alonso, Marcabru, Attaingnant, Parabosco, and Rossi, among many others.

Special guest performers include soprano and vocalist Neema Bickersteth from Canada, baritone and dancer Yannis François from Guadeloupe, and Mexico’s Tembembe Ensamble Continuo, featuring Ada Coronel and Ulises Martínez.

La Capella Reial de Catalunya vocalists include soprano Anna Piroli, soprano Maëlys Robbine, countertenor David Sagastume, tenors Víctor Sordo and Lluís Vilamajó, and Pieter Stas. Savall leads the ensemble as director and treble viol.

Savall founded Hespèrion XXI in 1974 and La Capella Reial de Catalunya in 1987. He has recorded more than 230 discs and received numerous honors including the Léonie Sonning Prize, the Gold Medal of the Generalitat of Catalonia, and the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur. He was named a UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2008.
