Opera Baltimore to Showcase ‘Little Red’s Most Unusual Day’
By David SalazarOpera Baltimore will present “Little Red’s Most Unusual Day” on Jan. 25 and March 1, 2025.
The family-friendly production will be presented in partnership with Towson University’s Department of Music. The work features scenes by Offenbach and Rossini with a unique spin. The production is aimed at children in Pre-K through 5th grade.
“As a former children’s choir director, I’ve seen firsthand how powerfully music can resonate with young hearts and minds,” said Julia Cooke, President and General Director of Opera Baltimore, per an official press release. “Whether it’s the children’s chorus in La bohème this season, our fun-filled family show Little Red’s Most Unusual Day, or our hands-on educational programs like What is Opera? A Team!, we’re rolling out the red carpet for even our tiniest listeners—making them feel at home with opera. By creating experiences for all age groups, we’re inspiring a lifelong love of this art form and ensuring opera remains a welcoming, family-friendly part of Baltimore’s cultural scene.”
Both performances start at 10:30 a.m.
The work was previously presented at Opera in the Ozarks and Des Moines Metro Opera, among others. Annapolis Opera will present the work on Feb. 8, 2025.
