Opera Australia Extends Artistic Director For 3 More Years

By David Salazar

Opera Australia has announced that Artistic Director Lyndon Terracini AM will remain in the position through 2023.

Terracini has been leading the company in this position since 2009 and has been a major part of the company’s growth throughout the past decade. Since taking over, she has programmed two  Melbourne Ring Cycles,  the Handa Opera on Sydney Harbor, and has commissioned such new works as “The Rabbits” and “Whiteley.”

“I’m thrilled to be continuing as Artistic Director of this phenomenal organization and I want to thank the Board, Rory Jeffes and the exceptional team at OA who work tirelessly to deliver wonderful performances throughout Australia on almost every day of the year,” stated Terracini in a press release. “In 2020, OA will present 923 performances throughout Australia. We have tripled our turnover and tripled the size of our audience over the past ten years. But we still have a lot to do and I’m looking forward very much to the next four years.”

Opera Australia’s 2019-20 season is in full swing with “The Marriage of Figaro” and “Il Viaggio a Reims” currently taking the stage.
