Oper Leipzig Cancels Premiere of ‘Pit and Paula – Freshly Salted’ Due to Extreme Heat
By Francisco SalazarOper Leipzig has canceled the premiere of “Pit and Paula – Freshly Salted” on June 27.
The company said, “Due to the high temperatures, Oper Leipzig and the Lindenfels Theatre have cancelled the premiere of the musical fairy tale ‘Pit and Paula – Freshly Salted’ scheduled for June 27th at 3 pm. The performance by the children’s and youth choir would be irresponsible.”
As a result, “the new premiere date at the Lindenfels Theatre is now Tuesday, June 30th, 2026 at 11 am. Since most performances in 2026 are already sold out, an additional date this summer is currently being sought, taking into account the schedules of the partner companies and the school commitments of the young participants. However, this date cannot yet be confirmed. There are still seats available for performances of ‘Pit and Paula – Freshly Salted’ next season.”
The children’s work is set to be performed through July 5 this season and will return for the 2026-27 season.
