
One Ounce Opera Takes Home B. Iden Payne Awards Ceremony

On Nov. 3, One Ounce Opera took home two awards in the Outstanding Production of a Short Play for and Outstanding Original Short Script categories. Both awards were given for Tyler Mabry’s micro-opera, “Ray Bradbury, Age 12, at the Carnival in Waukegan, IL.”
The company also received nominations in the Production category for Caitlin Vincent’s “<beyond>.” Other categories One Ounce Opera was nominated in include, Direction, Performance, Stage Management, Original Short Script, Original Score for Benjamin Morris and Laura Fuentes’ “Las Auténticas” and “<beyond>,” Musical Direction, and Orchestra in a Musical.
Each production was presented at the 7th annual Fresh Squeezed Ounce of Opera last year. “Ray Bradbury, Age 12, at the Carnival in Waukegan, Illinois” starred Nicholas Flott, Jake Jacosen, Hillary Schranze, Kaley Williams, and Sandra Villwock. “Las Auténticas,” featured Sandra Mercado, Annisha Mackenzie, and Julius Young. Janine Dworin and Andréa Ochoa were the leads in “<beyond>.”
