On Site Opera To Showcase ‘The Turn of the Screw,’ Starring Jennifer Check
By David SalazarOn Site Opera is set to showcase Britten’s “The Turn of the Screw” in a series of performances at Wave Hill in the Bronx. The run is set for Oct. 25-27, 2019.
Wave Hill is a public garden and former estate in the Bronx, which director Eric Einhorn believes suits the operatic ghost story to perfection.
“The incredible grounds at Wave Hill will allow us to take audiences on a journey like never before,” Einhorn said in a press release. “The opera will begin outside on a sweeping overlook of the Hudson River, then literally follow the Governess on her journey into and through two rooms of the stately Wave Hill house, where mysterious things await her.”
The experience will be unique as audiences will be “asked to stand and walk intermittently for approximately the first 30 minutes of the production.”
Jennifer Check will star as the Governess with the remaining cast members including Dominic Armstrong, Adriana Zabala, Margaret Lattimore, Ashley Emerson, and Darius Elmore.
Einhorn is set to direct with Geoffrey McDonald conducting the production. Amanda Seymour will design costumes while Shawn K. Kaufman will be the lighting designer. Sydney E. Schatz will be prop designer for the production.
