Obituary: Stage Director Enrique Bordolini Dies at 75

Teatro Colón has announced that Scenic Director Enrique Bordolini has died. He was 75.

The company said, “It is with deep pain that we communicate the sad news of the death of Enrique Bordolini, stage director of the Teatro Colón. Master of stage and theater lighting, trained at the Superior Art Institute of Columbus Theater, marked fundamental milestones in the modernization and technical projection of the most prestigious theaters in Latin America and the world. Bordolini was responsible for the stage design of memorable operas such as ‘La Traviata,’ ‘The Barber of Seville,’ ‘Nabucco,’ and ‘Die Soldaten,’ among many others, presented on stages in America, Europe, and the Middle East. His passion and dedication elevated theatrical art, leaving a profound imprint on those who had the privilege of working with him and enjoying his work. His absence will be deeply felt, but his legacy will continue to illuminate the world’s stages.”

Bordolini began his career in 1964 at the Teatro Colón and went on to work with the Teatro Argentino de La Plata, Israeli Opera, and Teatro Municipal de Santiago de Chile. Among the productions he designed included “Don Pasquale,” “Un Ballo in Maschera,” “Rigoletto,” ‘Ernani,” “Nabucco,” and “Lucia di Lammermoor,” among others.
