76th Annual Concorso Internazionale Aslico Announces Winners

The 76th annual Concorso Internazionale Aslico for young opera singers has announced its 2024 winners.

The competition, which was held on Jan. 6,  saw 18 singers competing. Of those 18, 16 singers competed for a role in an opera while two competed for an emerging prize. In total 120 singers competed before 18 were selected for finals.

The winners for roles in “L’elisir d’amore” by OperaLombardia were Giovanni Accardi who won the role of Belcore, Giacomo Nanni who will perform Dulcamara, and Sabrina Sanza for the role of Adina.

Seungwoo Sun won the role of Sir Riccardo Forth in OperaLombardia’s “I puritani.” The singers who were awarded role for Opera Domani’s “Falstaff” were Enrico Basso (Fenton), Alessia Camarin (Mrs. Alice Ford), Rosalba Aurora Ducato (Nannetta), Tamon Inoue (Ford), and Francesca Lo Verso (Mrs. Alice Ford).

The winner of the emergent section was Zhe Liu while Giovanna Lomazzi won the audience prize. Singers who also competed or roles were Anna Cabrera and Jun Young Choi.

The jury members of the competition included Dominique Meyer, Sovrintendente del Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Andrea Cigni, Sovrintendente Fondazione Teatro Amilcare Ponchielli in Cremona, Kab-gun Chung, Sovrintendente and Artistic Director of Daegu Opera House, Umberto Fanni, Artistic Director of Royal Opera House Muscat, Carlo Goldstein, representative of the Teatro Sociale – AsLiCo, Katrin König, Casting Director of the Salzburger Landestheater, Cristiano Sandri Artistic Director of the Teatro Regio di Torino, Christina Scheppelmann,  General & Artistic Director Designate Théâtre Royal de la Monnaie, and  Giovanni Vegeto, General Director of the Teatro Sociale – AsLiCo.
