On Feb. 5, 2023, Dr. Stephen L. Gage died at the age of 66.

Gage was an Interim Director of Bands at the Indiana State University’s School of Music.

Gage began his tenure as Interim Director of Bands at ISU in August 2022 and conducted the Wind Orchestra & Concert Band. He also taught conducting and was part of the ISU Music Education Faculty.

Outside of his work with ISU, he served as Professor of Music and Director of Bands & Orchestra at Youngstown State University’s (YSU) Dana School of Music from 1993-2021.

In 2010, he was appointed as the Principal Conductor of the W. D. Packard Concert Band, a professional concert band, in Warren, Ohio. He also taught at Emporia State University and at Auburn High School. He served on the Board of Directors of the Terre Haute Symphony Orchestra (IN), the Paris Fine Arts Center (IL), and the Pinnacle Winds (MO).

He is survived by his wife, Stephanie, and son Brendan, daughter, Claudia, son, Matthew and granddaughter, Zoey.
