Obituary: Jonas Bohlin Passes Away at 62

Composer Jonas Bohlin has passed away of a heart attack. He was 62.

Bohlin studied composition at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm from 1990-97. He studied with Daniel Börtz, Sven-David Sandström, and Magnus Lindberg. Bohlin’s compositions ranged from electro-acoustic experiments to full-scale orchestral, and choral works, and opera.

In 2009, Bohlin’s “Holocene Oartorio” for large orchestra, choir and soprano was premiered by the Swedish Radio Orchestra, Choir and soprano soloist Malena Ernman conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen. He wrote many choral pieces and was commissioned to write for Le Jeune Choeur de Paris. His opera,“Tristessa” was premiered in 2018 at Stockholm’s Royal Opera House.

Bohlin is survived by his wife and son.
