Nina Stemme, Sara Jakubiak, Iain Paterson & Jonathan Tetelman Highlight Deutsche Oper Berlin Revamped Spring Performances

The Deutsche Oper Berlin has announced plans for the rest of the 2020-21 season.
Berlin’s largest opera house has been quite cautious in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and has only published the monthly schedule.
The Deutsche Oper Berlin will reopen its doors for the premiere of Zandonai and Ricordi’s opera “Francesca da Rimini.” The opera will showcase Sara Jakubiak in the title role, Jonathan Tetelman as Paolo il Bello, Alexandra Hutton as Samaritana, and Samuel Dale Johnson in the role of Ostasio. The cast also includes Ivan Inverardi, Charles Workman, Meechot Marrero, Mané Galoyan, Arianna Manganello, Karis Tucker, Amira Elmadfa, Andrew Dickinson, Dean Murphy, Patrick Cook, and Thomas Lehman.
Carlo Rizzi will conduct the production by Christof Loy.
Premiere Date: March 14, 2021
Wagner’s “Siegfried” will spotlight Simon O’Neill in the title role, Nina Stemme as Brünnhilde, Iain Paterson as Der Wanderer, Markus Brück in the role of Alberich, Tobias Kehrer as Fafner, Ya-Chung Huang in the role of Mime, and Lindsay Ammann as Erda.
Deutsche Oper’s General Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles will conduct the production by Stefan Herheim. Uta Heiseke is the costume designer.
Premiere Date: April 18, 2021
Finally, Wagner’s “Das Rheingold” will star Derek Welton as Wotan, Markus Brück in the role of Alberich, Andrew Harris as Fasolt, Tobias Kehrer as Fafner, and Annika Schlicht as Fricka. The cast will also include Joel Allison, Robert Watson, Thomas Blondelle, Ya-Chung Huang, Flurina Stucki, Judit Kutasi, Meechot Marrero, Irene Roberts, and Karis Tucker.
