The San Francisco Opera is set to present Richard Strauss and Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s “Die Frau ohne Schatten” from June 4–28 at the War Memorial Opera House.

The work will return to the stage after a 34-year absence and will feature a new production by David Hockney.

Former San Francisco Opera Music Director Sir Donald Runnicles conducts the masterwork with a cast that includes Nina Stemme, Camilla Nylund, Linda Watson in her Company debut, Johan Reuter, and David Butt Philip.

The cast will be rounded out by Stefan Egerstrom, Zhengyi Bai, Wayne Tigges, Philip Skinner, Javier Arrey, Kidon Choi, Jongwon Han, Elisa Sunshine, Arianna Rodriguez, Mikayla Sager, Olivia Smith, Gabrielle Beteag, Nikola Printz and Victor Cardamone.

The opera will be live streamed on June 20 and will be available to watch on demand for 48 hours beginning on Wednesday, June 21 at 10 a.m. PT.
