Nicholas Phan Headlines San Francisco Performances’ ‘The Women’ Series

San Francisco Performances has announced “The Salon Series: The Women” as curated by tenor Nicholas Phan.

As of this writing, casting for this series is mostly to be announced so the listing of these shows will include the voice types that are set to perform alongside Phan.

First up, Phan will perform music by Jacquet de la Guerre and Maddalena Casalun in “Women of the Baroque.” The showcase will include a mezzo-soprano and baritone (TBA) and a Baroque trio.

Performance Date: Jan. 20, 2022

 Next up will be “Les Parisiennes” which will feature music by Cecile Chaminade, Pauline Viardot, and Nadia and Lili Boulanger. Phan will perform alongside a baritone, soprano, and pianist.

Performance Date: Feb. 3, 2022

“England, Czechoslovakia, Germany” will feature music by Fanny Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann, Ethel Smythe, and Alma Mahler.” Phan will perform with a baritone, soprano, and pianist.

Performance Date: Feb. 10, 2022

For “Modern Women,” the focus will shift to music by Margaret Bonds, Ruth Crawford Seeger, and Florence Price, among others. In addition to Phan, this performance will star a baritone, mezzo-soprano, and pianist.

Performance Date: Feb. 17, 2022
