New York OperaFest to Become”NYOA Next!”

By Afton Wooten

After closing its recent run of concerts New York OperaFest has announced its rebranding. In 2023 New York OperaFest will be known as “NYOA Next!”

The New York Opera Alliance (NYOA) Board President Marianna Mott Newirth said “Opera is changing, and NYOA is changing opera!”

Beginning in 2011, the group formed to bring visibility to opera in New York by collaborating with accessible and unique performance spaces. Opera companies such as the American Opera Project, Bronx Opera, Chelsea Opera, the Little Opera Theatre of NY, and many more have been part of the New York OperaFest. The 2022 festival opened in April and ran through June 15 showcasing the breadth and diversity of opera through events ranging from virtual reality to improv opera, with productions in theaters, gardens, garages, bars, playgrounds, and beyond.
