By Francisco Salazar

The New York Choral Society has announced its 2024-25 season entitled “She Sings: A Season of Extraordinary Women.”

The season opens with Richard Einhorn’s “Voices of Light” for chorus, soloists, and orchestra. The piece will be paired with the silent film “The Passion of Joan of Arc” and is a unique opportunity for both film and music lovers to experience the movie in Alice Tully Hall in partnership with the Mannes Orchestra.

Performance Date: Nov. 1, 2024

The New York Choral Society will be joined by the Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra for A Very Merry Brooklyn Holiday Concert. The evening will feature classical carols and holiday favorites.

Performance Date: Dec. 14, 2024

The Brooklyn Chamber Orchestra will join the New York Choral Society for William Walton’s “A Shakespeare Scenario.” The composition for a narrator, chorus, and orchestra weaves together the score from the film “Henry V” with the play’s dramatic monologues.

Performance Date: April 5, 2025

The final concert of the season will showcase classic choral works and forward-thinking compositions at NYU’s Skirball Center. It will pair J.S. Bach’s “Magnificat” with “This Love Between Us: Prayers for Unity”—a piece by Indian-American composer and LA Master Chorale’s Swan Family Artist-in-Residence, Reena Esmail.

Performance Date: May 10, 2025
