
New Music USA Announces Second Cohort of New Music Inc. – Chicago
By Afton MarkayNew Music USA has named the 12 new music groups and organizations that have been selected as the awardees for the second cycle of New Music Inc. – Chicago (NMI-Chicago).
Art Song Chicago, PlayOUT!, and the William Ferris Chorale are the recipients representing classical music.
A total of $156,000 will be awarded to the awardees. Each organization will receive an $8,000 grant to support their participation in the program, plus up to $5,000 for travel exchange with New Music Inc. cohorts throughout the country. The funding is made possible through support from the Walder Foundation, NMI-Chicago.
Last year’s cohort included Amanda Gookin, the New York City Program Coordinator teams with Batalá New York, Bergamot Quartet, ChamberQUEER, Irreversible entanglements, LayeRhythm Productions, Inc., Pathos Trio, Pique-nique Recordings, Resonator, TAK Ensemble and, the Healing Project. NYC.
