Nathan Felix’s Opera Austin Festival Unveils Slate

Nathan Felix’s Opera Austin Festival has unveiled its slate.

The event, slated for Nov. 16 will feature performances throughout the day.

Starting at 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., there will be panels on “Production Tales” and “Cultivating an Opera Community.”

One Ounce Opera will present an artistic talk at 6 p.m., followed by aria performances at 6:40. then comes an introduction to “Inversion Ensemble and “The Guardian Angel” at 7:25, followed by Local Opera Local Artists (LOLA) presenting “Meta Anthem” at 7:45, and One Ounce Opera showcasing “I am Worth Nothing” at 8:10.

At 8:30, there will be more “Arias” followed by at Artist talk with Felix himself at 8:40. The night will be capped off with the premiere of Felix’s “La Malinche” at 9 p.m. The opera stars Celeste Morales as La Malinche, Thomas Soto as Hernán Cortés and sopranos Kimberley Sandoval and Lucianna Astorga who play enslaved Aztecs.

The opera is followed by “Arias,” an artist talk with Peter Stopschinsky and Stopschinsky and LOLA presenting scenes from “The Wildman at the Queens Charity Retreat.”

The event ends at 10:30 p.m. It takes place at Draylen Mason Music Studio at KMFA.
