
Nathalie Stutzmann Appointed Music Director of Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo
By Francisco SalazarNathalie Stutzmann has been appointed to the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo as its next Music and Artistic Director.
Stutzmann will take the position for four-years starting September 2026, succeeding Kazuki Yamada and becoming the first woman to hold the position.
In a statement Stutzmann said, “I am deeply honored to join the Monte Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra as its next Music and Artistic Director. This orchestra created in 1856 carries a rich history and a distinctive artistic spirit, and I am inspired by the possibilities that lie ahead. My collaboration with the orchestra started more than a decade ago and we have been developing a beautiful complicity and joy to make music together during those years. I look forward to exploring musical horizons and continuing to share our passion for excellence with the audiences of Monaco and showcase the OPMC on the world stage. I look forward to building this new chapter with the musicians and the community that surrounds and supports this remarkable institution and am deeply grateful for the support and trust from our board president HRH the Princess of Hanover.”
Stutzmann and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo has conducted on numerous occasions, notably in 2014 with “L’elisir d’amour” and in 2017 with “Tannhaüser.” In 2014, she was named an Officer in the Order of Cultural Merit of the Principality of Monaco. Stutzmann has conducted at the Metropolitan Opera, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Bayerische Staatsoper, London Symphony Orchestra, Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Oslo Philharmonic
