The English National Opera has announced its 2023-24 season.

Gwyn Hughes Jones, Elizabeth Llewellyn, and Simon Bailey star in Britten’s “Peter Grimes” with Martyn Brabbins conducting David Alden’s production.

Performance Dates: Sept. 21–Oct. 11, 2023

Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Iolanthe” returns to the company with Chris Hopkins conducting the production by Cal McCrystal. Samantha Price, Ellie Laugharne, Catherine Wyn-Rogers, Marcus Farnsworth, John Savournin, Ben McAteer, Ruairi Bowen, Keel Watson, Llio Evans, Bethan Langford, Petra Massey, and Adam Brown.

Nicole Chevalier and Gabriella Cassidy lead Verdi’s “La Traviata” alongside Jose Simerilla Romero and Roland Wood. Richard Farnes conducts.

The “7 Deaths of Maria Callas” will be presented with Eri Nakamura, Elbenita Kajtazi, Nadine Benjamin, Karah Son, Aigul Akhmetshina, Sarah Tynan, and Sophie Bevan. Marina Abramović also stars and directs.

Performance Dates: Nov. 3-11, 2023

Poul Ruders‘ “The Handmaid’s Tale” will return with a cast that includes Kate Lindsey, John Findon, Susan Bickley, Rachel Nicholls, Nadine Benjamin, Rhian Lois, Avery Amereau, Madeleine Shaw, James Creswell, Zwakele Tshabalala, and Alan Oke. Annilese Miskimmon directs and Joana Carneiro conducts.

Charles Rice, Anna Devin, Innocent Masuku, and Simon Bailey star in Rossini’s “The Barber of Seville.” Roderick Cox conducts Jonathan Miller’s production.

Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute” will be conducted by Erina Yashima and will star Norman Reinhardt, David Stout, Soraya Mafi, Rainelle Krause, and John Relyea.

Janacek‘s “Jenůfa” will be presented in a production by David Alden. Jennifer Davis sings the title role alongside Susan Bullock, Richard Trey Smagur, and John Findon. Keri-Lynn Wilson conducts.

Bartok’s “Duke Bluebeard’s Castle” will be performed by Natalya Romaniw and John Relyea. Martyn Brabbins conducts.
