Nadine Sierra Cancels Berlin Performances of ‘Rigoletto’

By Francisco Salazar

Nadine Sierra has canceled her upcoming performances of “Rigoletto” at the Staatsoper Berlin.

Sierra took to social media and said that she was experiencing vocal and physical fatigue and needed to take a break. The soprano also noted that she had proposed singing the last few performances of the run but Berlin’s management did not accept. The soprano ended her statement on social media apologizing to her fans in Berlin.

Sierra was expected to sing on May 24 to June 4 alongside Francesco Demuro, Grigory Shkarupa, Anna Lapkovskaja, and Christopher Maltman. Giuseppe Mentuccia is set to conduct the production by Bartlett Sher.

“Rigoletto” will open on May 19 and will see Irina Lungu sing the role of Gilda. The Staatsoper has yet to announce a replacement for the remaining performances.

Below is the original story post that Sierra made on her Instagram account.
