The Metropolitan Opera is set to present a new production of Donizetti’s “Lucia di Lammermoor.”

The new staging will bring the bel canto masterpiece from 18th-century Scotland to a present-day town in the American Rust Belt. There will be nine performances from April 23 to May 21, 2022.

Australian film, theater, and opera director Simon Stone makes his Met debut with a cast that includes soprano Nadine Sierra as Lucia and tenor Javier Camarena as Edgardo. Bel Canto specialist Riccardo Frizza leads a cast that also features baritone Artur Ruciński as Enrico, and bass Matthew Rose as Raimondo.

The performance of “Lucia di Lammermoor” on Saturday, May 21, will be transmitted live to cinemas around the globe as part of The Met: Live in HD series and broadcast over the Toll Brothers–Metropolitan Opera International Radio Network. The April 26 and May 2 performances will be broadcast live on Met Opera Radio on Sirius XM Channel 355.
