Myung-Whun Chung to Make Teatro dell’Opera di Roma Debut

On July 24, Myung-Whun Chung will conduct Verdi’s Messa da Requiem at the Circo Massimo.

The performance will mark the debut of Chung with the Orchestra del Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. which was originally scheduled for May 2020 but canceled due to the pandemic.

Chung previously conducted at the Teatro Costanzi in 1995 with the Philharmonia Orchestra.

The performance will star Krassimira Stoyanova, Daniela Barcellona, Michele Pertusi, and Saimir Pirgu. The chorus master is Roberto Gabbiani.

The Circo Massimo is currently presenting Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” with Corinne Winters and is set to present “La Bohème” with Vittoria Yeo and Piero Pretti. The summer festival recently presented “Il Trovatore” with Roberta Mantegna and Fabio Sartori.
