Corinne Winters Leads Teatro dell’Opera di Roma’s ‘Madama Butterfly’

On July 16 the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma will open a new production of Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” at the Circo Massimo.

The production will be one of the two operas the company presents during the summer. Donato Renzetti conducts the production by Àlex Ollé de La Fura dels Baus.

Corinne Winters will take on the role of Cio-Cio-San while Saimir Pirgu will be Pinkerton. Adriana Di Paola will sing the role of  Suzuki and Andrzej Filończyk will take on Sharpless. The cast will be rounded out by Pietro Picone (Goro), Raffaele Feo (Principe Yamadori), Luciano Leoni (Zio Bonzo), Sharon Celani (Kate Pinkerton), and Arturo Espinosa (commissario imperiale). Angelo Villari will sing the role of Pinkerton on July 31 and August 6.

The production, which is a collaboration with Opera Australia / Sydney Opera House, will also be performed on July 20, 29, 31, and August 6.
