Musica Viva NY Unveils 2023-24 Season

Musica Viva NY has announced its 2023-24 season.

The season kicks off with MEXA: Mexamorphosis & Musica Viva NY. Mexamorphosis is a musical project led by Guadalupe Peraza that aims to bridge cultures through the representation of diverse styles. The program will showcase music from Mexico, Mali, and Hindustan.

Performance Date: Oct. 29, 2023

Next up is “Crimson Roses,” which features Richard Einhorn’s “The Luminous Ground,” Gilda Lyons’ “Crimson Roses Once Again Be Fair,” and Joseph Turrin’s “Momotombo.” All the works were commissioned by Musica Viva NY.

Performance Date: Dec. 3, 2023

“BECAUSE” will feature music by Bach, Gounod, Beethoven, Bierey, and a world premiere by Trevor Weston. The aim of the concert is to showcase musical adaptations across time.

Performance Date: March 3, 2024

Closing out the season is “Perpetual Light,” a concert showcasing Mozart’s Requiem and Golijov’s “Oceana.”

Performance Date: May 19, 2024
