
Music of Remembrance’s 2025-26 Season Features Premieres by Heggie & Cipullo

The west coast premiere of Jake Heggie’s “Crossing Borders” opens the season. Soloist are mezzo-soprano Catherine Cook, actor Curt Branom, and violinist Rachel Jung. They are joined by the Music of Remembrance Ensemble. Fifty percent of ticket sales will be donated to the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project and the Jewish Family Service.
“This partnership aligns with the core of our mission,” said MOR Executive Director Lorri Staal per an official press release. “Through music, we illuminate the journeys of countless refugees – their expulsion, resilience, and hope – while NWIRP and JFS serve on the front lines today, aiding immigrants who are living these struggles now. Together, we connect the stories on our stage with the lives in our community.”

Art From Ashes in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day presents Lori Laitman and David Mason’s “Vedem.” Performers include soprano Vanessa Isiguen, tenor Martin Bakari, the Northwest Boychoir, and the Music of Remembrance Ensemble. Jacob Winkler is the Music Director.

The Music of Remembrance opera commission, “The Dialogue of Memories” by Tom Cipullo gets its world premiere. Baritone Michael Mayes, mezzo-soprano Megan Marino, and tenor Dominic Armstrong perform. Erich Parce is the stage director. Peter Crompton is in charge of media design. Alastair Willis conducts the Music of Remembrance Ensemble.
