Music in the Mountains has named Vadim Gluzman as its new Artistic Director.

The Durango, Colorado-based festival revealed that Gluzman, a celebrated Ukrainian-Israeli violinist, will kick off his tenure during the 2025 season. Gluzman kicked off his relationships with the organization in 1997 through his involvement with the Conservatory. He has worked as a soloist, director, chamber musician for over 30 years with the Music in the Mountains Festival.

In his new role, he will curate the festival’s program and aim to bring in top-flight musicians to help ensure Music in the Mountains’ cultural impact. As his first act, Gluzman has named Daniel Raiskin as the 2025 season’s conductor-in-residence. The conductor is the Principal Conductor of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra in Bratislava, Music Director of the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Guest Conductor of the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra.

“I am deeply honored and excited to join Music in the Mountains as its Artistic Director,” said Gluzman, who plays the famed 1690 “ex-Leopold Auer” Stradivari violin, per an official press release. “The festival has a rich history of bringing world-class music to the beautiful landscape of Colorado, and I look forward to contributing and building on its legacy. On a personal level, I first performed at Music in the Mountains nearly three decades ago and have relished every opportunity to return; for me, this appointment as Artistic Director is truly a full-circle moment, and I am confident that we will engage with Durango’s wonderful community in new and meaningful ways by introducing innovative programs, fostering young talent, and showcasing the world-class artistry one can expect at Music in the Mountains. ”

The 2025 season will run from July 10 – August 3, 2025.
