Sarasota Opera is set to open its 68^th season with Humperdinck’s “Hansel and Gretel.”

The opera will run between Oct. 30 and Nov. 14 and will showcase a production that marks the first-ever mainstage collaboration between Sarasota Opera, Sarasota Youth Opera, and Sarasota Ballet School’s Margaret Barbieri Conservatory and Sarasota Ballet Studio Company.

The production will star Kara Morgan, Kerrigan Bigelow, Lisa Chavez, Lindsey Polcyn, Spencer Reichman, Sarah Stembel, and Kira Neary.

Anthony Barrese conducts the production by Felicity Stiverson, who first collaborated on the production with E. Loren Meeker in New Orleans and later in San Antonio.

In a statement Barrese said, “It contains some of the most deeply complex music I’ve ever worked on.”
