The Music Academy has announced that Shauna Quill will be its New President and CEO. She takes over the role from Scott Reed.

Her tenure commences on Nov. 1, 2023.

Quill is the current Executive Director of the New York Youth Symphony, a position she has held since 2011. During her time with the ensemble, the organization won the Grammy Award for Best Orchestra Performance, went on international tours, and also expanded and created other kinds of programs, including the Musical Theater Songwriting and Crescendo Orchestra Program. She also developed partnerships with other major organizations, including the Harlem School of the Arts, Harmony Program, and Interlochen Center for the Arts.

“I am thrilled and honored to have been chosen to lead the Music Academy into its next era,” Quill said of her new appointment in an official press statement issued by the Music Academy. “I am grateful for the support of the board, faculty and staff with whom I met during this process. Their passion for the arts and arts education perfectly matches my experience in uplifting artists throughout my career. The Music Academy offers transformational opportunities for its fellows and alumni and I cannot wait to further explore the possibilities ahead.”

Quill’s predecessor, Reed, held the position for 12 years.
