By Francisco SalazarThe Monterey Symphony in California has announced that it will be resuming its Music Director search beginning February 2022.
The orchestra announced that the four finalists for the job are Donato Cabrera, Peter Bay, Jung-Ho Pak, and Jayce Ogren. Each conductor will conduct a weekend of concerts with the Symphony at Sunset Center in Carmel.
Cabrera will perform on Feb. 19 and 20, 2022 while Bay will conduct on March 19 and 20, 2022. Pak will conduct on April 16 and 17, 2022 and Ogren will conduct on May 14 and 15, 2022.
The Symphony launched its search for a new Music Director in January of 2019 after Music Director Emeritus Max Bragado-Darman announced his retirement. The Symphony was scheduled to bring the four finalists in starting October 2020, but the pandemic prevented any full orchestra performances.
The Symphony intends to appoint its next Music Director in May 2022.
