Minghao Liu Wins First Prize at 2023 SAS Performing Arts Company and Studios Vocal Competition
By David SalazarSAS Performing Arts Company and Studios has announced the winners of its 2023 Vocal Competition.
Taking home first place was tenor Minghao Liu. Mezzo-soprano Anna Kelly was the second place winner while soprano Lynnesha Crump was the third place recipient.
Sopranos Shelen Hughes, Christine Taylor Price, Gillian Watson, Yuxin Zhou, and baritone Wil Kellerman took home the Emerging Artists Award.
The judges for the competition included soprano Kirsten Arnold, soprano Christine Moore Vasallo, Artis Executive Deborah Surdi, Metropolitan Opera Luminary and founder of Dramatic Voices of New York City – Anthony Laciura, and Artistic Director Maestro Stephen Scovasso.
The finalists were accompanied by pianist Mary Pinto. The final took place on Nov. 4, 2023 at the National Opera Center in New York City.
