Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts Releases ‘Mission: Commission’ Podcast Trailer

The Miller Theatre at Columbia University School of the Arts has announced the release of a trailer for its upcoming podcast series “Mission: Commission,” whetting the audience’s appetite for the series launch scheduled for Tuesday, April 13, and running on consecutive Tuesdays through May 18.

The free six-episode podcast challenges three composers to create a newly commissioned work in just six weeks. “Mission: Commission” takes the audience into the creative process and composers’ inner lives as it happens. The composers who have taken the challenge are Marcos Balter in New York will write for harpist Parker Ramsay; Courtney Bryan in New Orleans will write for trombonist Andrae Murchison and herself on piano; and in Chicago, Augusta Read Thomas will write for percussionist John Corkill.

Melissa Smey, Executive Director of Miller Theatre will host. The series is produced by Golda Arthur, seasoned podcast showrunner, audio producer, and journalist, who crafted the narrative arc of the 6-week journey.
