The Deutsche Oper Am Rhein has announced that it will present three acts of Wagner‘s “Tristan und Isolde” on three consecutive nights between July 2 and 4, 2021 at the Opernhaus Düsseldorf.

The opera will star Sarah Ferede as Brangäne, Hans-Peter König in the role of König Marke, Richard Šveda as Kurwenal, Dmitri Vargin as Melot, and Michael Weinius and Linda Watson in the title roles. Axel Kober conducts the production by Dorian Dreher. Ronja Reinhardt is in charge of costume design.

The presentation of the opera will reunite Weinius and Watson onstage after their work on the highly acclaimed Ring cycle in 2018 at the Opernhaus Düsseldorf, where they took on the roles of Siegfried and Brünnhilde, respectively.

The Deutsche Oper Am Rhein has reopened its doors for live audiences in June after a seven-month long hiatus due to ongoing concerns over COVID-19. The performances of “Tristan und Isolde” will also mark an official end to the 2020-21 season.
