Michael Spyres, Benjamin Bernheim, Nina Stemme, Sonya Yoncheva, Ailyn Pérez & Ying Fang’s Festival Aix-En-Provence’s 2026 season

The Festival Aix-En-Provence has announced its 2026 season.

Opera

Leonardo García-Alarcón conducts Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte” with Clément Cogitore directing. The production will star Ying Fang, Mauro Peter, Sabine Devieilhe, Sean Michael Plumb, Brindley Sherratt, and Edwin Crossley-Mercer.

Performance Dates: July 2-21, 2026


Klaus Mäkelä conducts Strauss’ “Die Frau one Schatten” in Barrie Kosky’s production. The cast will include Michael Spyres, Vida Miknevičiūtė, Nina Stemme, Brian Mulligan, and Tamara Wilson.

Performance Dates: July 3-15, 2026


Raphaël Pichon conducts Mozart’s Requiem with a cast that includes Mélissa Petit, Beth Taylor, Duke Kim, and Alex Rosen. Romeo Castellucci directs.

Performance Dates: July 4-12, 2026


Francesco Filidei’s “Accabadora” will have its world premiere with Lucie Leguay conducting and Valentina Carrasco directing.

Noa Frenkel, Rachel Masclet, Lodovico Filippo Ravizza, Hugo Brady, Victoire Bunel, and Francesco Leone star.

Henze’s “El Cimarron” will star Eric Greene and be conducted by layce Ismail.

Performance Dates: July 17-20, 2026


Daniele Rustioni conducts Verdi’s “Les Vêpres Siciliennes” with Karine Deshayes, John Osborn, Nicola Alaimo, and Christian Van Horn.

Performance Date: July 16, 2026


Gerald Finley and Irene Roberts star in Bartok’s “Bluebeard’s Castle” with Klaus Mäkelä conducting.

Performance Date: July 11, 2026


Concerts

Voice Residency will be giving two concerts.

Raphaël Pichon, Pygmalion and baritone Stéphane Degout explore Schubert and Brahms, focusing on symphonies and orchestrated lieder.

Performance Date: July 7, 2026


Benjamin Bernheim performs Massenet, Bizet, Duparc, Puccini, Verdi, and Berlioz, with Qiaochu Li.

Performance Date: July 8, 2026


Karim Sulayman joins Sean Shibe in Broken Branches, mixing Monteverdi, Purcell, Britten, Middle Eastern songs and contemporary works to explore plural identities and diasporas.

Performance Date: July 10, 2026


Michael Spyres and Matthieu Pordoy delve into the post-Romanticism of the lieder of Wagner, Mahler and Strauss.

Performance Date: July 13, 2026


Sonya Yoncheva will make her Festival debut, revisiting the world of Baroque music with Cappella Mediterranea and Leonardo García-Alarcón.

Ailyn Pérez makes her Aix-en-Provence debut accompanied by Julius Drake.
