Michael Chioldi Leads Pittburgh Opera’s ‘Falstaff’

By Francisco Salazar

Pittsburgh Opera is set to conclude its production with Verdi’s “Falstaff.”

The production will be presented between April 28 and May 3 at the Benedum Center.

In a statement Christopher Hahn, who is retiring as Pittsburgh Opera General Director said, “Falstaff was in many ways the culmination of Verdi’s remarkable career. Everything he’d learned in his life went into its gorgeous music. Plus, Falstaff is a comedy, and I wanted to finish my career with a smile, which seemed much more appropriate than a murder or suicide.”

The production is set to star Michael Chioldi in the title role, Blake Denson as Ford, Danielle Pastin as Alice Ford, Shannon Crowley as Nannetta, Audrey Welsh as Meg Page, Marianne Cornetti as Mistress Quickly, and Logan Wagner as Fenton.

The cast will be rounded out by Matthew Soibelman, Joseph Frank, and Rick Hale.

Antony Walker conducts the production by Crystal Manich.
